About

My Story:
I’m Eric — a full-stack engineer who took a nontraditional route into tech, driven by an obsession with learning and a genuine love for building.
My journey into software began during Grad-School where I was building and creating models and programs using R. Soon I realized early into my career that I wanted to become a software engineer. In 2022, I committed to daily practice, building projects, and expanding my skills—no matter the day or circumstance. That commitment led me to complete the rigorous Springboard Software Engineering Bootcamp while working full-time as an environmental engineer. It was a year of intense growth and challenge.
Eventually, I was able to secure my first position. I’ve been fortunate to work professionally as a software engineer for a cutting edge startup, where I’ve helped bring complex ideas to life in the form of scalable, user-focused applications. I’ve built interfaces that make data more approachable, crafted tools that streamline decision-making, and even designed AI-driven features from the ground up — all while contributing to a collaborative, forward-thinking engineering team.
What sets me apart isn’t just my ability to write clean, maintainable code — it’s the perspective I bring from a previous career that demanded precision, systems thinking, and clear communication along with the heavy demands for performant and innovative software at my current role. Whether automating workflows in a geospatial dataset or optimizing front-end performance for healthcare software, I’m always asking the same questions: Is this useful? Is it clear? Can it be better?
Now, I’m looking to join a team where I can keep growing, stay challenged, and contribute meaningfully — both through code and through collaboration. If you’re looking for someone who’s deeply invested in the craft, quick to adapt, and driven by purpose, let’s talk.
-Eric Doering
Success Journal:
-I led the end-to-end development of an internal AI assistant trained on pharmaceutical data — improving research workflows and surfacing insights faster for healthcare clients.
-I led the launch of a new software testing initiative that significantly improved our team’s ability to expand test coverage and increase efficiency, enabling more reliable releases with fewer regressions.
-I’ve consistently taken ownership of full-stack features from concept to production, including API integrations, data modeling, and responsive front-end design.
-I have completed at least 1 software related task everyday since March 2022. In other words, either contribute to a project, practice a data structures & algorithm type question, or read/study a computer science related topic every day.
-I completed 3 major full-stack software projects from Fall 2022 to Winter 2023.
-I created 99 Github Repositories with 347 total contributions in 2023. These contributions range from small mini projects, exercises, or contributions to my full-stack portfolio projects.
-I am a top 3% leetcoder for 2023.
-I made a goal in the Summer of 2023 that I would attend at least 1 networking event every month moving forward (even after I receive my first software engineering role). So far I am succeeding.
-I conducted 2, 30 minute presentations on important engineering/science related concepts for my team during 2023.
-I am tasked with the additional role of tech support admin for my current team.
-Throughout my time at my current position I have mentored 4 incoming staff members.
-I participate in bi-weekly meetings where I provide engineering and safety tips that help folks on my team.
-I’ve mentored 5 fellow bootcamp students to coach them through their software journey.
-I aided in programming and workshopping an arcGIS map layer that my team utilizes.
-I appeared on a popular software engineering podcast to explain my bootcamp experience and give advice and encouragement to those seeking entry into the career field.
